TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Kamila al-Kuwari Center is a major hub of Quranic activities for women in the Qatari capital.

Qatar’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry

The center was launched in 2016 in an endowed building in al-Kharitat district in a Doha suburb.

It operates under the supervision of the Dawah (call) and Religious Guidance Department.

Qatar’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry recently released a report on the activities of the center.

Currently, 492 women and girls in different age groups are learning the Quran by heart at the center, the report said.

They are taught by 17 female Quran teachers, it said.

It added that the programs and activities of the center are implemented in line with the ministry’s plans to promote the teachings of the Holy Quran and Islamic values in society.

According to its director, Nour al-Kabisi, the center has been named after Kamila al-Kuwari, a woman who endowed the building in 2016.

The center’s educational programs have been received warmly by families who are keen on having their daughters learn the Quran.
